Put on a shin of beef early in the morning.
An hour before dinner put in the vegetables--
corn, tomatoes, potatoes, or any other the season affords.
Half an hour before dinner add pearl barley, vermicelli, or dumplings, as you prefer.
Season with salt, pepper and catsup, to taste.
